I wrote in my previous blog that I hoped to have all the pics up before my parents arrive, well they will be here in about five hours and I have heaps to do so I doubt that will happen but I will at least make a start.
Due to certain circumstances at work we did not make the decision to leave until the afternoon of December 31. The plan was to leave early the next morning. Of course this never happened as we had so many lose ends to tie up. We finally got away around 1.30pm and got to the village at 4pm. I have been back many times since we moved to Ubon 8 months ago but for Seerung due to work she hadn’t been back for around 6 months. It was great to see her start to unwind and catch up with her family and eat, eat and eat some more!
Usually whenever we visit we always bring some food that is not available in the village. This usually involves some kind of seafood. Being New Year we splashed out and bought heaps of anything that swims in the ocean and for the next 36 hours we stuffed ourselves silly.
BBQ seafood with herbs and salad was mostly what we ate.
Apart from eating we slept a bit, caught up on the village gossip and also spent a little time working on a plan for our garden. A day and a half after arriving we hit the road again for the two hour drive to the Chong Mek border crossing between Thailand and Laos. This will be part 2.
