Finishing the fence and garden at the house in the village

During the last three days we have made three trips to the village to organise the finishing of our house. The village is a two hours drive south east of Ubon. (101km)

Old time readers of this blog will know this information but for all the new comers…. the house was finished 2 years ago when we arrived here in Thailand. What was never finished however was a kitchen for downstairs as well as a fence and garden. This was always going to be stage 2 and we had no plan to do this for many years. When my father in law died suddenly a year ago those plans changed and we were able to clear the land next door (where he used to live) and make plans for our garden. With all the animals around you cannot have a garden without a fence so we started on that which is now almost finished. As soon as it is the garden process will begin. At the same time we thought we may as well enclose one corner of the downstairs for a kitchen and store room. We have a builder and a few helpers on site so it is all go at the moment and we expect to make a few more trips out there over the next week or so.

Here are a few photos of what is going on. It is so exciting to have a almost blank canvas to design a small garden and we cannot wait for the finished product.

Front fence is half finished - side and back fence is complete

A nice blank canvas for our garden.
