After breakfast at our hotel (the Khum Phucome Hotel) we called our car and driver from the previous night and organised a pick up to go to the zoo. They were late but eventually we were heading up the mountain with two very excited kids in the back seat wondering what kind of animals they were going to meet.
While Thailand does not have a good reputation for well kept zoos I was quite surprised with the high (ish) standard of the Chiang Mai Zoo.
Right near the main gate were the Pink Flamingos.
Right next door were the Cockatoos. Bit of a laugh here as they are pests at home in Australia and Marisah exclaimed quite loudly “aren’t these the birds that Uncle **** shoots at home?”
I liked the Hippos. Very cute and great to see up close.
The favourite for the girls was the Giraffes.
Like the hippos you could get right up and personal with the elegant animals.
Marisah was a lot braver then her big sister.
Until she saw the length of the tongue!!
Here is a different angle of it!
Next up were the big cats. Lazy Lions and…..
Ironic isn’t it that these half Aussie kids saw their first Koala in Thailand!
Every little girl loves a fluffy white rabbit!
Most of the animals looked in good condition and all their yards were fairly clean.
Seerung and Jacob only managed half of the park before retiring to a coffee shop but the girls and I managed to walk about 90% of it and by the end we were pretty well beat!
After a coffee for myself and an ice cream for the kids we called our driver and made back for the cool air con at the hotel.
