Ariya was very excited to learn that this year her birthday would be spent at home and not on the road or in an aeroplane travelling somewhere.
Family were invited and food was prepared. Ariya really wanted to play the game capture the flag which we did for ages. It was then over to the cousins house to finish the day with a swim. A fun but relaxing afternoon was enjoyed by all and Ariya was as happy as a pig in mud! Happy 8th birthday sweet heart!

The night before Marisah got to stay up late to help Mum decorate the birthday cake. I love the complete concentration.
She looks happy with the finished product.
And the next morning so did Ariya when she got to see it.
Once everyone had arrived I sent the kids out on a Treasure hunt that I had laid out earlier in the day.
And then it was time to play capture the flag. For some reason Ariya had been wanted to play this on her birthday for months previously! It was hot and sweaty work!
Here is Ariya’s team getting serious and talking tactics.
Followed by the funniest team dance I had ever seen.
When we were all exhausted we staggered back into the air con to blow out the candles and cut the cake. Ariya has a nice sheen to her face in this photo!
A close up of Marisah’s and Seerung’s creation.
The pool was a welcome relief after all the running around. Here are my girls with Nomi Mae.
Only a few days to go now before we escape the oppressive heat of a northern Australia wet season and head to the cooler southern states as well as New Zealand and then Thailand. Expect this blog to change tact once again as I try to document our journey as we go.
